BNL Italy Major Premier Padel, Lebron: 'We want to win'. Augsburger: 'Happy to play alongside Juan'
In the eyes of Juan Lebron and Leo Augsburger there is the determination of players arriving at the BNL Italy Major Premier Padel with a single objective: lifting the winners' trophy. So far, they have been the only pair capable of breaking into the endless battle between world No. 1s Agustin Tapia and Arturo Coello and the duo formed by Ale Galan and Fede Chingotto. This season, Lebron and Augsburger have already claimed the title at the Brussels P2, defeating Tapia-Coello in the final and the 'Chingalan' pairing in the semi-finals.

'Both pairs are very difficult to beat', says Lebron. 'We must not focus on Tapia-Coello or Galan-Chingotto. They are difficult opponents for us, but it is not easy for them to play against us either. When we step onto the court, we only think about beating them'.

Augsburger also spoke about their rivals: 'Lately we get asked a lot of questions about them. We focus on ourselves. We know those pairs are there, but there are others too. We have worked very hard for this tournament. Over the last two weeks we have trained under the sun to get used to these conditions'. Lebron is very clear about the goal at the Foro Italico: 'We want to win the tournament. The first match will already be a difficult challenge, so today we need to train'.

The Spaniard also had words of praise for his partner: 'I think Leo is on a great journey. He will become world No. 1, I have no doubt about it. He must not feel pressure, he has to enjoy himself and enjoy what he is doing. We both feel complete. I have more experience and I try to help him. To me he is like a brother. There is a good vibe between us. He is a mature guy and every day I am surprised by the things he does'.

Augsburger is equally happy with the path they are taking together: 'We get along really well. I'm happy to play with him. When he called me, I knew we could become a pair capable of fighting for everything. Things are going well. We are not focused on results, but on what we can do to improve and build this partnership. Then the results will come'.

For Lebron, a triumph in Rome would mean a return to success in this tournament after his 2022 victory, achieved alongside Galan with a final win over Martin Di Nenno and Paquito Navarro. Augsburger has already won the World Championship with Argentina in 2024, the Madrid P1 in 2025 and the Brussels P2 this year. Winning a Premier Padel Major would represent the definitive breakthrough of his career.
