Oysho Valladolid Premier Padel P2 Coello and Tapia retain their crown: Arturo wins at home. Gonzalez and Josemaria lift the trophy once again
Arturo Coello was born in Valladolid, while Paula Josemaria has a special connection with Plaza Mayor. That is why today's victories, alongside Agustin Tapia and Bea Gonzalez respectively, mean more than most. Both dreamed of lifting the trophy once again in the iconic square hosting the P2, and both achieved that goal. Two straight-set victories secured the fifth title of the season for Coello and Tapia - their third in a row - and the sixth for Josemaria and Gonzalez, after their run of five consecutive titles had come to an end in Buenos Aires.

MEN Coello and Tapia defeated Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan 6-4 6-3 in one hour and four minutes, having already beaten them at the Foro Italico and in the memorable Valencia final. This time, one break in the tenth game of the opening set and another in the eighth game of the second were enough. Before the trophy ceremony, an emotional Coello embraced his family, a rare sight during a season spent competing around the world. 'Thank you to everyone who shared this special and unique week of padel with us here at home', he said. 'The effort Fede (Chingotto) has made over the past few days deserves special recognition. We all know what it means to compete when you're not at your best. We are proud of the level we have reached and hope we can maintain it for a long time'. Tapia added: 'If Arturo thanks me, then I have to thank him. He deserves to win here at home, in front of his people and his family'.

WOMEN Before Coello and Tapia's triumph, Josemaria and Gonzalez had returned to winning ways with a 6-4 6-2 victory over Ari Sanchez and Andrea Ustero, claiming their first title since falling in the semi-finals in Rome and the quarter-finals in Valencia. A break in the fifth game of the opening set proved decisive, before Paula and Bea extended their advantage with another break in the third game of the second. 'Thank you everyone for your support', said Josemaria. 'I'm very happy with the level we maintained because we knew facing Ari and Andrea would be extremely difficult. I know one of them very well, while the other is the future of padel. We did well to combine power with control'. Gonzalez added: 'We have felt so much support throughout the week. Winning in Spain is always special for us because we spend so much time travelling. In this project we learn something after every match and every tournament. We're delighted to be lifting another trophy here'.
