CMU-Q welcomes the first members of the Class of 2022

Qatar, January 27, 2018:  Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q) honored the first students of the Class of 2022 at a dinner for students, parents and members of the faculty. The 17 students were admitted through CMU-Q’s Early Decision process, applying in advance of the regular deadline to secure a place in the first-year class.

This is the third year that CMU-Q has offered Early Decision. Students who had previously attended a CMU-Q high school workshop were invited to enter the Early Decision round.

Michael Trick, dean of CMU-Q, welcomed the students and their parents: “When I meet with our alumni, they tell me how precious their time was here. I encourage our new students to savor every moment of the next four years and embrace the opportunities. Studying at CMU-Q will shape the rest of their lives.”

Alumnus Saleh Al Khulaifi, who graduated from CMU-Q in 2010, shared his experiences with the new students in a keynote address. AlKhulaifi was the founding general manager of Bedaya Center, and currently serves as the head of business development at Qatar Development Bank.

CMU-Q will continue to accept applications for the fall semester until March 1, 2018.
