St. Petersburg can rightfully be called the center of cultural and educational tourism. The city on the Neva River is a home to about nine thousand objects of cultural heritage, palaces, cathedrals, monuments, as well as more than 800 largest museums, theaters, libraries, exhibitions and concert halls, which are just impossible to be covered in a single trip. The main museum of the city is the State Hermitage Museum, where about three million works of art and monuments of the world culture are stored. Among the sights of St. Petersburg, some are directly related to the history of the Middle East. One of the examples is the “Cathedral Mosque of St. Petersburg”, which is an architectural combination of oriental tradition and European Northern Art Nouveau.

Peterhof, Tsarskoe Selo, Pavlovsk, Gatchina are imperial palace and park ensembles located near St. Petersburg. Undoubtedly, one of the main attractions of the St. Petersburg royal suburbs area is a unique architectural monument Peterhof. Its fountains and palaces are famous all over the world. Tourists also come to the historical city of Gatchina to visit to the famous palace and estate museum and just walk around the old town center, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The small town of Pavlovsk is located 25 km away from St. Petersburg and was the favorite hunting place of Catherine II. On its territory, there is a palace and a park, the former imperial residence. One of the favorite residences of the royal families of the past centuries is Tsarskoye Selo – the famous palace complex founded by Catherine I. The place is made famous not only by the Romanov family, but also by graduates of the Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum, one of whom was the famous Russian poet Alexander Pushkin. Tsarskoye Selo is officially considered a part of the historical center of St. Petersburg and is protected by UNESCO as an object of the world cultural heritage.

The tourism sector of the city is actively preparing to host guests from Qatar. Numerous hotels are adapting their services to meet the needs of tourists from there and creating special conditions ensuring that cultural and religious peculiarities are respected. In addition, the gastronomic diversity of St. Petersburg will surely leave the travelers fully satisfied.

Representatives of the tourism and hospitality sector spoke more about all the tourist offers of the city during the media event taking place at the QATAR TRAVEL MART 2023 exhibition. The International Exhibition of Tourism and Travel was held from November 20 to 22 in Doha.
