Dukhan Bank Adds Multi Currency Mastercard Prepaid Card to its Cards Portfolio

Doha, Qatar – February 28  2021: Dukhan Bank, Qatar's leading banking player, has announced the launch of its Multi Currency Mastercard Prepaid Card co-branded with Qatar Airways, which allows customers to make transactions in five different widely used currencies from one card.

The Multi Currency prepaid card is the ideal international travelling companion that allows users to carry the Qatari Riyal (QAR), United States Dollar (USD), Euro (EUR), Great Britain Pound (GBP) and Turkish Lira (TRY) in one place. The innovative contactless card removes the need to carry multiple cards or physical currencies.

To bring the holders of the Multi Currency Prepaid Card even closer to their travel dreams, customers will enjoy a reward of 1 Qmile for every QAR 10 spent internationally and QAR 20 spent locally. Qmiles can then be used with Qatar Airways Privilege Club to book award flights, cabin upgrades, extra baggage, and more.

Powered by smart technology, the Multi Currency card switches according to the destination of use, can draw funds from another currency, and allows customers to move money from one currency to another while locking in exchange rates.
The Multi Currency card can be used across ATMs, stores, food and beverage outlets abroad as well as for online purchases. Moreover, customers can use the Multi Currency Mobile Application to transfer Qatari Riyal to any currency wallet. The card offers a high security mechanism through a built-in Chip & PIN protection.

Customers can load funds or top up the card through the Dukhan Bank Mobile Banking application, bank branch or ATM.
Commenting on the release of the prepaid cards, Dukhan Banks Chief Executive Officer, Khalid Al-Subeai, said:
“The Multi Currency prepaid card addresses market needs for fast, flexible, and secure payment for a large portion of customers who are always on the move. The card has been specially designed to carry the most widely used currencies, while allowing customers to easily load money, switch between wallets, and benefit from competitive exchange rates on payments. We are pleased to launch this card into the market for our high-level, versatile customers.”

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said: “As we continue to bring our members more unique opportunities, we are pleased to launch the Multi Currency Prepaid Card with Dukhan Bank. This comes as part of the airline’s strategy to make Privilege Club even more rewarding for our members, both when flying and through financial and lifestyle partners. Qatar Airways remains committed towards creating more possibilities to earn loyalty rewards, in addition to offering various avenues to spend them.”

Nadia Ghissassi, Country Manager for Qatar, Oman and Kuwait, Mastercard, said: “The new Multi Currency prepaid card offers cardholders a world of convenience. The solution adds an additional level of convenience and flexibility, and ensures travellers never run out of funds while overseas. We are pleased to collaborate with our trusted partner, Dukhan Bank, and Qatar Airways to improve cardholders’ travel experience and provide smart solutions to address the needs of frequent travellers while providing the security synonymous with Mastercard products.”

Dukhan Bank offers its clients a high-quality financial portfolio of products and services that include an award-winning mobile application, best in class Islamic finance services, and state-of-the-art business banking solutions. Currently, the bank heads a robust digital transformation that seeks to reimagine banking by offering a secure, simplified, and seamless experience to its customers as it reaffirms its position as ‘Qatar’s Bank of Choice’.
