Katara Hospitality, the owner of Sheraton Doha Resort & Convention Hotel, has announced the completion of the largest and fastest restoration in Qatar and GCC of the Doha Sheraton in a record time of 7 months. The renovation includes all electro-mechanical works, and internal decoration for the whole hotel, including all the rooms, elevators, halls, gardens and infrastructures in preparation for hosting the 35th session of the Supreme Council of GCC Leaders, due to be held in Doha on December 9 and 10. A staff of 16000, including qualified engineering and scientific personnel, participated in accomplishing the project within this record time. It is worth mentioning that the Sheraton hotel is one of the prominent landmarks in Qatar, which has hosted numerous Arab conferences and GCC's Summits. Built in 1982, The Sheraton Doha Resort and Convention Hotel was the first 5-star resort in the city, and it was previously called the 'Gulf Pyramid' because of its pyramid-shape and its location on the Arabian Gulf Sea. The hotel has been restored to its original 1982 glory, to be a new gigantic architectural building glorifying the past and meeting all the requirements of the most luxurious hospitality places and conferences in the world. The achievement of such a huge project in this record time proves Qatar's capability to fulfill and respect its promises, and construct the projects and installations to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup on time and according to specifications.
