GCC visitors are invited to experience a Ramadan like no other
Visit Qatar continues to attract visitors from the GCC and beyond as it recently introduced several events, festivals, offers, and packages during the holy month of Ramadan, from diverse cuisines at the ‘Throwback Festival’ located at the Old Mina Port, to the ‘Souq Al Wakrah Bazaar’ at the Al Wakrah Old Souq. Other Ramadan activities include lectures and film screenings, providing plenty of opportunity for families and individuals to partake in celebrating throughout the duration of the Holy month.
Commenting on the Ramadan festivities, Eng. Abdulaziz Ali Al-Mawlawi, Chief Marketing and Operations Officer at Qatar Tourism, said: “Visit Qatar is pleased to announce a wide range of opportunities for families across Qatar and the GCC to celebrate the Holy month of Ramadan. The amalgamation of multicultural festivals, activities and hospitality packages this year attests to the eclectic events residents and visitors can attend this month. Visit Qatar has collaborated with several government and private entities to organise and facilitate the best offers and packages for GCC visitors during the Holy month from the best touristic and hospitality venues spread throughout the country – offering a variety of cultural experiences curated for the entire family.
The Throwback Food Festival
This year, Visit Qatar is hosting the Throwback Food Festival at the Old Mina Port, with daily activations from March 10 till April 10. Decked with lighting and traditional tapestry that honours the fabric weaving from Qatar’s heritage and culture, the Old Mina Port welcomes GCC visitors to explore up to 15 renowned restaurants with international cuisines, primarily from the Middle East and South Asia. Exclusive restaurants include Beirut Restaurant, Popeye, Sidheeque Juice Stall, Omar Al Khayam, Hargeisa, Palestine Cafeteria, Al Zarka Scene, Orange Kiosk, Baradat Saida, Rex Restaurant, Shujaa Restaurant, Stearling, and Pakistan Sweets.

The Torba Market: Slice of Support
The Torba Market: Slice of Support is held every Saturday of Ramadan (March 16, 23, 30, and April 6) from 20:00 – 01:00 at Education City in Doha. This bazaar features artisanal products and other F&B options for a charitable cause with donations and proceedings going to Palestine. Torba Market is hosting this bazaar in collaboration with the Qatar Foundation Alumni Office, VCU Qatar, and Education Above All.
The Pearl Ramadan Bazaar
Located at the prestigious Pearl Island on the magical shores of Doha, the Pearl Ramadan Bazaar features 28 stalls with traditional products to shop for, such as Arabic sweets, abayas, incense, accessories, and other handcrafts. It also features activities for children and families, such as Garangao activities, arts and crafts, traditional weaving, henna, face paint, and other workshops.
The bazaar it held till April 13 at 2 to 6 La Croisette, Porto Arabia and will run from 20:30 – 01:00 (Saturday to Wednesday), and 20:30 – 02:00 (Thursdays and Fridays), in addition to being run on Eid Al Fitr as ‘The Pearl Eid Souq’.
The Ramadan Fair at Souq Al Wakra Hotel
Held at the Souq Al Wakra Hotel, the Ramadan Fair is an event organised by Visit Qatar and Heenat Salma Farm. Packed with several activations, the Ramadan Fair promises to be a memorable attraction with free craft workshops, lectures, movie screenings, and children’s activities. With a range of artisanal foods, the Ramadan Fair has culinary delights catering to a wide range of palettes. GCC visitors can enjoy different cuisines from a variety of waterfront restaurants located at Al Wakrah Souq.
The souq is also home to over 40 stalls of different textiles, homeware, handmade toys, arts and crafts, perfumes, and fashion for GCC visitors to browse and shop, including several family-friendly workshops on Qatari arts and crafts, such as calligraphy, palm weaving, body oil and kohl making, and Islamic pattern painting.
In collaboration with the Qatari Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs, and Al Baraka Association, the fair will host two lectures and conferences each week. The free lectures and conferences will be centred around spiritual significance, traditions, and practices of Ramadan. These will be bilingual in both English and Arabic, for one hour each.
