Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q), a Qatar Foundation partner university, held a formal convocation ceremony to officially welcome more than 100 first-year students of the Class of 2027. Members of the CMU-Q senior administration, faculty, staff, students, and alumni were present for the ceremony, which was also live streamed.
Michael Trick, dean of CMU-Q, shared the importance of community with new students: “CMU-Q offers its students more than just education. It is home to a community that supports and encourages youth to seek personal growth and development. Throughout their four-year learning journey, they will develop a sense of what they can contribute to the world to make it a better place.”
The convocation ceremony caps off a week of orientation activities for new students, including introductions to faculty members, the academic resources at CMU-Q, and their fellow first-year students.
CMU-Q provides undergraduate degree programs in the fields of biological sciences, business administration, computer science and information systems. Applications for the fall 2024 semester will open on September 1.
