An Inspiring Collaboration with Mawaheb Art Studio Celebrating People of Determination

A wave of creativity, emotion, and human connection has arrived at Mercato Shopping Mall with the launch of Unfolding in Blue — a powerful sensory art exhibition running from 7th to 13th May 2026 in collaboration with Mawaheb Art Studio, the celebrated creative hub dedicated to empowering People of Determination through artistic expression and inclusion.

More than a traditional exhibition, Unfolding in Blue invites visitors into an immersive multi-sensory experience inspired by the many emotional layers and symbolic beauty of the color blue. Through a striking collection of artworks created by Mawaheb’s talented artists, the exhibition explores themes of identity, accessibility, emotion, and belonging — encouraging visitors to connect through art on a deeply personal level.

The official opening ceremony took place on Thursday, 7th May at Mercato Mall, gathering artists, advocates, media figures, and members of the community in a heartfelt celebration of creativity and inclusivity.

Guests were warmly welcomed by Wemmy de Maaker, who shared Mawaheb Art Studio’s inspiring mission and highlighted the transformative role of art in building confidence, independence, and opportunities for People of Determination.

International accessibility advocate and motivational speaker Jessica Smith delivered an inspiring address on the importance of creating inclusive environments where every individual feels valued, represented, and empowered.

Adding a meaningful Emirati voice to the occasion, renowned Emirati media personality, poet, and content creator Ahmed Al-Ghafli spoke passionately about empowering People of Determination and praised Mercato Mall’s continued efforts in supporting the UAE’s vision for inclusivity through impactful community initiatives and accessible experiences.

One of the event’s most touching moments came from Angelina Lawless, a student from Mawaheb Art Studio, who introduced the exhibition’s interactive installation titled We Are All Determined People. Visitors are encouraged to leave personal messages and reflections on specially designed art panels and a wheelchair installation, collectively creating a living artwork that symbolizes empathy, unity, and shared humanity.
