Open call invites local designers, makers and creative entrepreneurs to showcase and sell original, functional design products at Mada, the curated retail space at Doha Design District supporting local creativity and design excellence
Doha, Qatar; 7 November 2026: Doha Design District, powered by Msheireb Properties, invites designers, makers and creative entrepreneurs across Qatar to submit products with original designs for consideration at Mada, the curated retail space at Doha Design District dedicated to local creativity and design excellence.
The new Open Call reflects Doha Design District's commitment to nurturing Qatar's creative community and giving designers a platform to reach wider audiences. Selected designers will showcase and sell their work through Mada, connect with design enthusiasts, and contribute to Qatar's growing creative economy. Mada offers a curated retail environment for designers to present products that combine creative thinking with functionality, craftsmanship and commercial potential.
Dana Kazic, Director of Doha Design District stated: "Designers need space not only to create, but to share their work and connect with people who can appreciate their ideas and skills. Through this programme, Doha Design District gives them the suitable platform at Mada to reach a wider audience and the confidence to explore new possibilities. We encourage designers to be bold, express their individual perspectives and show what their creativity can bring to everyday life."
The open call welcomes submissions from designers and makers based in Qatar, as well as emerging and established creative businesses producing original, functional products across a range of disciplines.
Eligible categories include home accessories and objects, ceramics, textiles, jewellery, stationery, lifestyle products, sustainable design and other contemporary design products.
Submissions should demonstrate originality through a distinctive design concept, with a clear connection to contemporary design. Products should be practical, usable and suited to everyday life, with high-quality craftsmanship and durability. Work should reflect design rather than fine art — with clear design intent, production quality and commercial potential.
To participate, designers should be commercially ready: finished products suitable for sale, professional packaging, product descriptions and pricing, and the ability to replenish stock as needed.
Submissions will be reviewed through a curated selection process by a dedicated jury. Selected designers will have the opportunity to showcase their work at a leading design destination in Qatar, engage with local and international visitors, connect with the wider creative community, and gain visibility through the District's platforms and programming, while contributing to the continued growth of Qatar's design ecosystem.
