One of the favorite residences of the royal families of the past centuries is Tsarskoye Selo – the famous palace complex founded by Catherine I. The place is made famous not only by the Romanov family, but also by graduates of the Tsarskoye Selo Lyceum, one of whom was the famous Russian poet Alexander Pushkin. Tsarskoye Selo is officially considered a part of the historical center of St. Petersburg and is protected by UNESCO as an object of the world cultural heritage.
