Carnegie Mellon Celebrates First Students of the Class of 2027

Doha, January 28, 2023 - The first students of the Class of 2027 received a warm welcome at Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q), a Qatar Foundation partner university. The 31 students were admitted to CMU-Q through the Early Decision round of admission. The students represent 18 schools and 10 nations, and more than half of them are Qatari nationals.

Michael Trick, dean of CMU-Q, encouraged the new students to seize the many opportunities that will come their way during their undergraduate years: “A university education is about more than academics: it is a time for you to develop your skills and passions. Over the next four years, you are on a path of self-discovery. Try new things, learn new skills, and discover how you can change your world.”

The CMU-Q Early Decision application deadline is three months before the regular deadline of February 1. Students who have attended a CMU-Q outreach program are invited to apply for Early Decision if CMU-Q is their first choice in universities. Successful students are offered acceptance packages before the winter break.

CMU-Q will continue to accept applications until the regular admission deadline of February 1. Students can apply for top-ranked undergraduate programs in biological sciences, business administration, computer science and information systems for studies beginning in August 2023.
